Why Trend Queries Are Capped at 90 Days
The Analytics trend endpoint hard-caps any request at 90 days of data, regardless of what's asked for — here's what that means in practice.
If you query the Analytics trend data directly and ask for a longer window — six months, a year — you'll get 90 days back regardless. The cap is applied server-side: whatever number of days you request, the response is clamped to a maximum of 90.
What this affects
The dashboard's own traffic chart already requests a 30-day window by default, well under the cap, so you'd never notice this limit from the dashboard alone. It only becomes visible if you're calling the trend endpoint directly and deliberately asking for more history than the default view shows.
Why a cap like this is normal, not unusual
Hard limits on query range or data breadth show up across analytics and BI tools generally — Looker Studio's cap of five blended data sources per dashboard is a commonly cited example of the same underlying pattern: a tool constraining a request so that a single query stays fast and predictable rather than letting an unbounded request degrade performance for everyone. A 90-day ceiling on trend queries fits that same logic.
What to do if you need more history
There's no way to request more than 90 days in a single call — the cap is enforced regardless of what you ask for, not a soft default you can override with a parameter. If you need a longer historical view, the only path today is querying in 90-day chunks and combining the results yourself; there's no single request that returns more than that in one response.
