Proactive Campaigns and the Eye-Catcher
Chat's widget can now show a custom eye-catcher before visitors even open it, as part of proactive, behavior-triggered campaigns.
Most of Chat is built around reacting — a visitor opens the widget, and your team responds. Proactive campaigns flip that: instead of waiting for a visitor to start a conversation, the widget can reach out first, based on what someone is doing on your site, with a custom visual — an "eye-catcher" — that appears before the widget is even opened.
What an eye-catcher is
It's a small, custom image you upload that sits near the widget launcher, designed to draw attention before a visitor has decided to click anything. Paired with a rich, targeted campaign message, it's the difference between a chat bubble a visitor might never notice and one that actually invites them in — useful for surfacing a promotion, a relevant offer, or a nudge to ask a question, at the moment it's most likely to land.
One detail worth knowing
Uploading an eye-catcher image doesn't make it live on its own. The upload step returns you a URL for the image, but saving it as part of your widget's actual configuration is a separate step, done from the widget configurator. If you upload an image and never save the configuration change, nothing changes for your visitors — the image just sits unused rather than appearing anywhere. It's a small distinction, but worth knowing so an in-progress campaign doesn't get mistaken for a live one.
Where to set it up
Eye-catchers and proactive campaigns are configured from the same place you manage the rest of your widget's appearance — upload your image, build your campaign, and save the configuration to make it visible to visitors.
