Member Roles and Space Invites for a Growing Docs Team

Knowledge spaces now show exactly who has access, at what role, and let owners and admins invite teammates by email without waiting on a manual account setup step.

As a Knowledge space grows past one or two writers, "who can actually edit this" stops being obvious. We've shipped a Members panel for every space that answers it directly: a list of real members alongside any pending invites, plus your own role and what it lets you do.

How roles work

Knowledge uses the same role ladder as the rest of Piskes AI Studio: owner, admin, manager, member, and viewer, ranked from most to least privileged. Day to day, what matters is which of four things a role can do — read, write, delete, and manage. Owners and admins can do all four, including inviting people and changing roles. A manager can create, edit, and delete content but can't touch membership or space settings. A member can read and write. A viewer can only read. Every one of these checks runs on the server, not just in what buttons the UI shows you.

How invites work

Inviting someone is just an email address and a role. If that person already has a Piskes account, they're added to the space immediately — no waiting required. If they don't, the invite sits as pending and is redeemed automatically the moment they create an account with that email, however they sign up. There's no separate "accept invite" click needed on their end.

Two things worth knowing plainly: pending invites don't expire on their own — they stay open until someone with manage access revokes them or the invitee signs up — and a space can never be left without at least one owner, so the last owner can't be removed or demoted by accident.

This is a foundation piece — expect finer-grained, space-specific permissions to build on top of these five roles as the product matures.
