Open and Click Tracking for Sent Emails

Email now tracks opens and link clicks on sent messages, shown directly on the message and rolled up per template, for anyone sending outreach or updates at scale.

Email has covered sending, templates, and shared inboxes well, but once a message was sent, there was no way to know what happened to it beyond a reply landing back in your inbox — or not. Today's release adds open and click tracking, so a sent email tells you something about what happened after it left.

How it works

Any email sent through Email can now be tracked for opens and link clicks, shown directly on the sent message as a simple timeline — opened at this time, this link clicked at that time — and rolled up at the template level for anyone sending the same template repeatedly, like a follow-up sequence or a template-based outreach campaign. Tracking is opt-in per message rather than blanket-enabled, respects recipients on lists that have opted out of tracking where required, and results feed into the Analytics unified dashboard the same as every other app's metrics, so email engagement sits alongside the rest of a workspace's numbers rather than in a separate report.

Where this is useful

This is aimed at anyone sending email that isn't purely one-to-one correspondence — a template used repeatedly for outreach, a shared inbox handling a volume of similar requests, or a sales rep wanting to know whether a proposal email was actually opened before following up. Because tracking data attaches to the shared contact model, an open or click on an email tied to a CRM contact shows up on that contact's activity timeline too.

What's included

Per-message open and click tracking, template-level rollups, and Analytics integration are live today. Send-time recommendations based on a recipient's historical open patterns are planned for a follow-up release.

Open and click tracking is available now on every plan that includes Email, enabled per message from the compose window.
