Schedule Content to Publish Automatically

The editorial calendar shipped earlier this cycle let teams plan when a post should go out, but actually publishing it still meant someone opening Content at the right moment and clicking the button — a plan that lives or dies on somebody remembering. Today's release removes that step: any approved post can now be scheduled to publish itself.

How it works

From a post's publish menu, choose "Schedule" instead of "Publish now," and pick a date and time. The post goes live automatically at that moment, without anyone needing to be at their computer, and shows up on the editorial calendar with a distinct "scheduled" state so it's clearly different from a draft still being written. Scheduling respects the editorial workflow shipped earlier — a post still has to reach "approved" status before it can be scheduled, so scheduled publishing isn't a way to skip review, only to remove the manual trigger once review is done.

Where this is useful

This is aimed at the ordinary reality of a publishing cadence that doesn't align with when someone's actually at their desk — a post finished on a Friday afternoon meant for a Monday morning release, or a changelog entry tied to a feature launch happening at a specific time regardless of who's available to click publish at that moment. It also makes the editorial calendar's drag-to-reschedule feature immediately actionable — dragging a scheduled post to a new date now actually changes when it goes live, not just a planning label.

Scheduled publishing, calendar integration, and workflow-gated scheduling are live today for both blog and changelog content types. Scheduled social media cross-posting, announcing a scheduled post automatically when it goes live, is planned for a follow-up release.
