Pulling a Custom-Length Trend for Any Event You Track
The Analytics trend endpoint already supports any event name and up to 90 days of history — the dashboard UI just hasn't caught up to showing it yet.
The traffic chart on your Analytics dashboard is fixed to one view: pageview events over the trailing 30 days. That's a deliberate, simple default for the dashboard — but it isn't the limit of what the underlying trend endpoint can actually return.
What the API already supports
The trend endpoint accepts two parameters the dashboard never sends: an event name and a days range. Pass any event type you're already sending through custom event tracking — not just pageview — and the endpoint will return a day-by-day series for it. The days parameter accepts anything up to 90, clamped server-side regardless of what's requested, so a 90-day trend for a specific event you care about is one query away.
Why this is useful
If you're tracking something like a signup completion, a file export, or a feature-specific action as a custom event, you don't have to wait for that data to show up on the dashboard to see its trend over time. Call the trend endpoint directly with your event name and the day range you want, and you get the same time-series computation the dashboard chart uses internally — just pointed at the metric that matters to your team instead of generic pageviews.
The catch
This is API-only for now. The dashboard's chart component always requests 30 days of pageview, so there's no UI toggle to switch the event or extend the window today — you'll need to call the endpoint yourself (or build a small internal view on top of it) to use this. We're noting the capability now because it's real and available, even ahead of a UI that exposes it directly.
