Tracking Competitors Inside a Deal, Not in a Separate Doc

CareSuite lets you log competitor strengths, weaknesses, and notes directly on an opportunity — small, specific, and easy to lose track of when it lives anywhere else.

Competitive intelligence in a sales process almost always starts out well-organized and quietly degrades into a doc nobody updates. Someone builds a battlecard, shares it in a team drive, and within a quarter it's stale — the doc doesn't know which specific deal a competitor showed up in, so keeping it current requires someone to remember to go update a document that isn't attached to anything.

CareSuite scopes competitor tracking (care_competitors) to the opportunity itself instead: a competitor record tied directly to opportunity_id, with fields for strengths, weaknesses, and notes specific to that deal. When a rep learns a competitor is in the running for a specific opportunity, the information about that competitor's angle — what they're pitching, where they're weak, what the customer said about them — lives on the deal it's relevant to, not in a separate document someone has to remember exists and cross-reference by hand.

It's a small feature in terms of what's stored — one table, a handful of text fields — but the placement is the point. Competitive intel that lives inside the deal record gets updated by whoever's working the deal, as a natural part of working it, rather than requiring a separate discipline of maintaining a standalone competitive-intelligence document. Salesforce and HubSpot both have versions of this pattern at enterprise scale; CareSuite offers the same idea at SMB scope, where a lightweight per-opportunity note is more realistic to actually maintain than a formal battlecard system most small teams never fully commit to.
