Soft Delete Everywhere: One Trash Bin for the Whole CRM

CareSuite routes deletions from roughly twenty different modules through one shared trash table, instead of each feature implementing its own delete flag differently.

Deleting something in most software is a small moment of anxiety, because "delete" usually means gone — and different features in the same product often implement "gone" inconsistently, some genuinely permanent, some recoverable if you know who to ask, most somewhere ambiguous in between.

CareSuite handles this with one shared mechanism instead of a per-feature convention: care_trash, a single table that any module writes to when something's deleted. Each entry records which module the deleted item came from, its record id, a label, a full payload snapshot of the record as it existed, who deleted it, and when. Delete a customer, a quote, a competitor note, a warehouse — whatever it is, it lands in the same trash bin with the same recoverable structure, rather than each of CareSuite's roughly twenty modules having invented its own answer to "what does delete actually do here."

That uniformity is the interesting part, more than the soft-delete concept itself — soft delete is a familiar pattern on its own. What's less common is applying it consistently across that many distinct modules through one shared table, rather than the more typical result where half your features soft-delete, a few hard-delete, and nobody's entirely sure which is which without checking the code.

The practical payoff is trust: nothing is really gone until someone empties the trash on purpose. A customer accidentally deleted, a warehouse removed by mistake, a competitor note cleared during a cleanup pass that turns out to still matter — all recoverable from the same place, with the full record intact, not just a name and a timestamp with the actual content already lost.
